An exit poll by Blueprint, a Democrat polling firm, confirms the results shown in the chart above: inflation was the single biggest factor influencing the outcome of the. election. Not a majority, but a plurality of the voters agreed on this. Immigration came in second. These are issues that directly affect the lives of most of us, especially in the middle class. Though apparently they don't affect wealthy movie stars and similar bubble-dwellers. For normal people, though -- the "normal majority" -- things are too expensive, but at the same time we don't usually qualify for hand-outs.

Speaking of celebrities, another encouraging signal from the elections was the evident failure of the populace to be swayed by Hollywood types and the like who have no claim to expertise, but who nevertheless want to tell us how we should think. Using their fame as a substitute for wisdom and knowledge, apparently.

Perhaps the public has grown up.
