On SkyNews I just watched a doctor in Gaza describe the injuries he’s treated. He speaks of a dead child, and asks, “What did that child do to deserve to die?”
That’s a very good question. And it deserves an answer.
No child “deserves” to die. It is always a tragedy. Children are innocent beings. They bear no responsibility for their actions, or the actions of others. They have to first grow up and be taught by adults before owning any accountability for their actions.
All sane, moral societies understand this fundamental, non-rebuttable reality, and dutifully protect the innocence of children.
Our society, western society in its current expression here in the United States, is no longer a moral society. We no longer protect the innocence of children. For one thing, we sexualize them. This is inherently evil. Many Americans now accept the sexual mutilation of children, and have transmogrified this biology-denying medical malpractice into so-called “gender-affirming medical care.” This appalling policy has been blessed by none less than the President of the United States, as well as government officials and prominent medical institutions such as Boston Children’s, Johns Hopkins, and Massachusetts General Hospitals.
So, perhaps we no longer have the moral authority to even attempt to answer such a question.
But I will, anyway.
The children of Gaza have done nothing to deserve their fate in this conflict. They have, however, the misfortune of being born into a terrorist state, a product of a terrorist, genocidal culture. The Prime Directive of the Gazans under the auspices of their elected government, Hamas, is the genocide of Jews, wherever they exist. Systemic, formal hatred of Jews is inculcated in Gazan children once they reach school age. This genocidal goal has been the primary endeavor of Hamas since they took the reins of government once self-determination was handed to them from Israel in 2005. Rather than investing in industrial infrastructure to spur economic growth, they chose instead to invest in tunnel networks from which to launch deadly attacks against Jews. This is why no Arab nation will take Palestinian refugees. They know better.
An overwhelming majority of Gazans supported the October 7 savagery – the torture and massacre of 1,200 Israelis, including youths attending a music festival. They also took 240 hostages, a terrorist action by definition, many of which are now dead.
The Israeli invasion is the cost of that attack, an act of war. That cost unfortunately includes the death of innocent children, the blame for which ultimately falls on the parents who brought them into their world.
